My husband and I just bought a house that already had an ADT system installed from the previous owners. Our agent referred us to Safehaven who put us in contact with ADT. ADT called us and we decided to find out about options to continue using their service. The technician that came to install the system said we would have to switch out the old system and put in a new one and that would cost us $400. He said we had 30 days to test it out and cancel if we weren't happy with the system or service.
He had us eSign on his iPhone which we could not read whIle he quickly scrolled through the signature sections. 2 days later we were at work and got an alert that the glass break alarm had gone off. They called us and asked if we wanted them to call the police. We weren't sure what was going on because we weren't home. As it turned out, the alarm was set off by our dogs barking.
We weren't happy at all with the system or service and called to cancel. We were told that we only had 3 days and the cancellation had to be mailed in to there corporate offices in Colorado. We live in NJ!! We have to have teleportation in order to make that happen. We didn't even get 3 days let alone 30 that their tech lied to us about. They give you a false sense of security by lying through their teeth.
Then they told us in order to cancel now we will be liable for 75 % of the total 3 year contract. That's upward of $1,500 for 3 days of awful service.
I just spent 40 minutes on hold. Went through 3 people the first was with ADT,
Tyler, the other 3 were with Safehaven. First the manager, Candice who just passed me off to Bernadine. Then Bernadine passed me off to Richard Smith who is the rudest most useless Cancellation Manager. He would not let me speak and refused to listen to anything I said. We pay these people's salary through their scamming us.
This is a scam operation and I call for a class action lawsuit. If you care to stop this company from continuing to rob hard working people join the movement.
